The challenge

Group A sells windows and doors through well-known brands like Belisol and KwadrO. Their sales process traditionally took place at the kitchen table using physical sample books and a basic configurator. While salespeople could easily show sample products, the customer's actual house remained invisible.

This created a big problem during sales conversations. When a customer hesitated between two front doors, they were really trying to picture how that model, color, and finish would look against their own unique facade.

The main UX challenge was to take that visual guesswork out of the customer's head and put it directly onto a screen. The goal was simple: let a salesperson take a photo of the house on-site and instantly generate a real-life visual using products from the catalog. Because trust is critical in home renovation, the visual quality had to be extremely high. If the image looked fake or cheap, the customer would not buy.

The approach
To make the tool work well during a quick sales meeting, the UX/UI design focused on speed, simplicity, and ease of use for both the seller and the homeowner:
  • Simple Workflow: The salesperson logs in, uploads one or more photos of the property, and marks the exact windows and doors that need replacing.

  • Easy Product Choice: Once areas are marked, the user selects real products from the catalog, including frame styles, colors, and specific handles. For windows, grid layouts can be updated all at once or adjusted one by one.

  • 100% Orderable Selection: Every visual option shown in the interface corresponds to a real product. What the customer sees on screen is guaranteed to be available for purchase.

  • Flexible Context Controls: To account for wider renovation ideas, like repainting the wall, changing roof tile colors, or removing a tree blocking the view, a flexible text field lets the salesperson guide adjustments to the background.

Behind this simple interface, a custom Visual AI pipeline handles complex details. The system keeps the AI changes strictly inside the marked frames, leaving the rest of the house untouched. It also smartly handles obstacles like cars or bushes in front of the house and keeps natural glass reflections, turning a simple photo into a believable preview.

Result

The tool launched successfully across three separate brand environments: Belisol Netherlands in early July, followed by Belisol Belgium and KwadrO in late August.

From a user experience standpoint, the tool completely changed the sales meeting. What used to require imagination is now a clear visual shown live on a screen. By showing products directly on the customer's home, Group A made it much easier for buyers to feel confident in their choice right at the kitchen table.

While the AI pipeline and UI were tailored to Group A, this clear design approach can be reused for any product that customers need to see in their own home before buying, such as flooring, tiles, wall paint, or outdoor roofs.
